Fingerless tie dyed glovies made from re-purposed kilt socks with stripe cotton binding and ties.
These glovies are made from dead-stock kilt socks donated by Edinburgh based Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers and stripe cotton. Each pair are inspired by wraps that the local fish wife’s would make by tearing up old rags and wrapping them round their hands with twine. This was to prevent the women from cutting their hands when gutting fish. Similar wraps were made from old stockings for fisherman, this was also to prevent any damage to their hands, in particular salt blisters when at sea.
Each pair of glovies are hand dyed in London.
